Hello I’m Katie Palmer (Head of ParaNetball at Manchester Thunder.)
Having established the first ParaNetball Club in the North West with Dominoes Netball Club in November 2021, I was thrilled to be approached by Manchester Thunder to discuss ParaNetball. We discussed not only Manchester Thunders ambitions but those of myself too: to provide opportunities for as many people living with disabilities to access Netball – a game so many of us love being part of, as a player, coach, official, volunteer or fan.
Being able to provide opportunities to the deaf and disabled communities is something I’m really passionate about. Having been involved professionally in the Sports Development sector for 10 years now, there clearly is a huge gap within Disability Sport that needs addressing, so hopefully ParaNetball can bring to help tackle this issue.
The sessions which myself and my other fabulous volunteer coaches have been running for the last 12 months have really grown and developed. It really is fantastic knowing the opportunities and excitement Netball is bringing to many young peoples lives – who often don’t have the opportunity to take part.
The Partnership between Manchester Thunder and Nichols plc will allow ParaNetball to be taken to new audiences across the North West and I’m so excited to be on board!
Feel free to contact me should you have any questions ahead of attending one of our sessions: [email protected]
