Nicola Smith is a South African international defender who joined Manchester Thunder for the 2025 Netball Super League season.

Standing at 188 cm, she brings height, strength, and composure to the defensive circle, covering both GD and GK.

Born in Cape Town, Nicola made her senior debut for the SPAR Proteas in 2020 and has since represented South Africa at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2023 Netball World Cup. She also competed in Fast5 and Quad Series tournaments, showcasing her versatility on the international stage.

At club level, Nicola first played in the UK with Loughborough Lightning, winning a Super League title in her debut season. She moved to Thunder in 2025, quickly becoming a key part of our defensive unit despite an early setback with injury.

Renowned for her aerial presence, ability to disrupt shooters, and calm leadership at the back, Nicola continues to be a driving force for both Thunder and South Africa as she builds her international career.
